Forget the Urge
Work on the Response, Not the Urge
The urge to make a decision about something unhealthy is powerful. It is an impulse. The brain is thinking about wanting something and wanting it badly. The serotonin in the brain is calling for it. You’ve got to have it! Well, not really.
Forget the Urge
You don’t have to have something that isn’t good for you. God will show you a way out (1 Cor. 10:13). So what do we do about the urge? Don’t respond to it. You do this by working (thinking) on the response, not the urge.
Ask Yourself a Question
Is the decision I’m about to make going to get me where I want to go? The urge is the trap. The response is the door to freedom.
