We say to ourselves: ‘I’m just not good enough’. For whom? The world? You never will be and that is the best news you ever want to hear. Paul writes in 1 Peter 2:9 that we are a chosen people, a royal priesthood and a holy nation, a people belonging to God.
The world’s stress
So to be praised by the world we would need a lot of money to buy a lot of stuff to impress others. There is much stress associated with a desire for the world’s praise. And yet, we are good enough and chosen. It did not cost us anything, whilst it cost our Savior His life.
Even better news: He’s not sending us a bill.
